Leading Lent

Get the App

  1. Download the ONE Hearing the Word app:
    1. Apple
    2. Android
    3. Web Version
  2. In the app, select Solomon’s Porch Hong Kong as your church.
  3. Select Lent 2025 to follow along.

Preparing Your Lent Message

  1. Check the Lent Schedule, to confirm when and what you will be speaking on.
  2. Spend a few minutes in silence to prepare your heart and mind.
  3. Ask God to highlight a word or phrase as you read the passage.
  4. Reflect in silence on that word or phrase after reading.
  5. Dig deeper:
    1. Read the devotional in the ONE app.
    2. Explore commentaries for context: Blue Letter Bible
  6. Focus your message on what God revealed to you. Use research to support, not dominate, your message.
  7. Include application: How does this verse apply to life today? What should we do with it?
  8. Tips for connecting:
    1. Be honest and relatable.
    2. Use other Bible verses, personal stories, or examples.

Time: 15-20 minutes, including reading the verse.

Roles

  1. AV Person
  2. Speaker (HC leader)
  3. Worship Leader

Speaking

  1. Open with a prayer at 7:10 AM
  2. Introduce and read the verses.
  3. Share your devotional (finish by 7:30 AM.

Worship

  1. Invite the worship leader to begin.
  2. Share a prayer focus or reflection based on the devotion.

Prayer

A staff member will transition from worship and lead the prayer time.
