SECTION 1: Work Hours & Conditions

While a church and a corporation may have different values, both require professionalism and excellence. Below are the guidelines to reflect these standards.

Work Hours

  • A typical workday is 8 hours (excluding lunch).
  • Lunch can be up to 1 hour between 12pm and 2pm, unless for work purposes.
  • Work must be done in the office.
  • Working from home requires Supervisor approval and is only for special cases.

Work Start Time

  • EMP Days: Start at 7 AM.
  • Non-EMP Days: Start at 9 AM.

Sundays

  • Most Sundays finish by 2pm, so 8 hours of work may not be required.
  • On Sundays with special events, you may need to work more than 8 hours.
  • All employees must attend Sunday Worship Services.

Work Hours Include

  • Time spent on church activities, including travel, sermon prep, and Sunday worship.
  • Church events (e.g. retreats, conferences) are part of your work hours.

Attendance

All employees are required to observe the above work hour guidelines unless written exemption has been obtained from the Executive Pastor or Senior Pastor. Frequent absences or lateness can affect your service and team morale and can be grounds for discipline and/or termination of your employment contract.

Flexible Working Hours

The purpose of flexible work hours is to balance your work with personal commitments, and not intended for personal convenience or preference.

Start Times

Usage

Flexible hours require your supervisor’s prior written approval, so clear communication is needed.

  • Extra hours worked Monday – Friday can be adjusted within the same week.
  • Extra hours worked on Friday – Sunday can be adjusted the following week.
  • You cannot accumulate flexible hours as future leave days.

Note: Church-wide events like retreats or conferences are part of normal working hours and cannot be adjusted, meaning that extra hours worked during Church-wide events cannot be netted off work hours at other times.

Work Arrangements during T8 / Black Rainstorm

Weekdays

Sundays

Staff should return home after the 9am service. Safety is a priority, but staff should come to work unless approved by the Executive Pastor.

Work Arrangements during T9 / T10

  • If Typhoon Signal No. 9 or higher is issued by 6am, there won’t be in-person services.
  • A sermon will be uploaded or live-streamed.
  • Some staff may be needed to help with the service, while others can stay at home.
