Code of Conduct
As a Christian church, SP expects all employees to follow the moral, spiritual, and ethical teachings of the Bible in both their work and personal lives. Employees should live in a way that reflects their faith and aligns with SP’s values, seeking to maintain and grow in the character qualities of 1 Timothy 3:2-7.
Employee agrees that they shall:
- Abide by the Leadership Standards set out in Bye-Law 7. Failure to meet the Mandatory Leadership Standards set out in Bye-Law 7A is grounds for termination of employment.
- Follow the terms of this Employee Handbook as a condition of their employment.
- Carry out all duties honestly and work well with church leaders.
- Focus on personal spiritual growth through prayer, Bible study, and worship.
- Live a godly life in both private and public settings.
- Manage finances responsibly, avoid excessive debt, and live modestly.
- Stay away from any sexual immorality and avoid anything that looks wrong.
- Collaborate with staff and church leaders to maintain unity.
- Help strengthen the church by training others for service (Ephesians 4:11-13).
Confidentiality
Employees must carefully handle sensitive or confidential information. Sharing this information inappropriately can result in disciplinary action, including possible termination.
Cooperative Working Relationships
We want to create a respectful and friendly workplace where everyone is treated well. Employees should avoid negativity and work to build positive relationships in the church.
Failure to Maintain Standards
Employees are expected to behave and perform well at work. If an employee’s conduct or performance is unsatisfactory, they may face disciplinary action or be terminated. Usually, employees will receive feedback and a chance to improve before any further action is taken.
